About The Product

Australian hardwood flooring, supplied by a business that has been manufacturing timber products since 1932.

Solid timber flooring is our largest selling range and the foundation of what Hurford’s does. Milled from Australian hardwood and supplied to builders, flooring contractors and timber merchants nationally, it comes in two installation formats to suit the job:

  • Traditional: Structural 19mm and 21mm thick flooring for installation directly over floor joists or battens, in widths from 60mm through to a 180mm wide board. Also available is 60mm wide by 20.5mm thick flooring for sports floors.
  • Overlay: Boards are 12mm and 14mm thick, specifically designed to be secretly fixed over a solid subfloor of plywood or particleboard. Widths of 83mm and 86 mm are available.  (For wider boards, see Hurford’s Fourteen range)

The species range covers long-standing staples such as Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Brush Box, and Ironbark, but with many other species also available.  There is a wide choice of grades, including those who want less feature through to those looking for a floor full of character.

Every board comes through more than 90 years of native hardwood experience and expertise, as a third generation family business that knows and breathes hardwood flooring.

Whether it’s a single residence or a multi unit project, your local branch can help with species selection, board size, quantities and samples to get the spec signed off.

Product Information

A solid timber floor is the same from the top of the board to the bottom. That’s what allows it to be sanded back and refinished many times over its life without needing to be replaced. The number of sandings available is much greater than other alternative products, and it is not unusual for solid timber floors to last 50, 70 or even 100 years.

It’s also the format with the most room to move on a spec. Choose from Australian hardwood species, traditional boards primarily for joist or batten installs, or overlay boards for installation over sheet subfloors, and a finish applied on site so colour and sheen are set to suit the project.

Behind every board is a manufacturer that has worked in native hardwood since 1932, with the species and product knowledge to back the floor long after it’s installed.
