This guide covers the two main types of timber flooring: traditional floorboards—typically 19mm or thicker solid timber installed directly over floor joists—and overlay floorboards, which are thinner boards (14mm or less) designed to be installed over a solid subfloor such as plywood or particleboard.

 

Traditional Floorboards

Refers to 19mm (or thicker) solid timber flooring that was traditionally installed directly over floor joists.

Refers to thinner boards (14mm or less) designed to be installed over a solid subfloor such as plywood or particleboard.

An 85mm x 14mm overlay board supplied in extended lengths ranging from 500mm to 4500mm.

Hurford Roasted
Thermally modified timber flooring, produced using high‑temperature treatment.
